Happy B-Day Marine Corps

BROCKTON--Today, the U.S. Marine Corps celebrates its 236th birthday.
According to the U.S. Marines website, the corps was founded when a committee from the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia met at Tun Tavern to hammer out a resolution to create two battalions of marines who would fight at land and sea for the fledgling nation's battle for independence.
The resolution was accepted by Congress, Nov. 10, 1775. Samuel Nicolas was the corps first commandant, and tavern owner Robert Mullan was its first captain and recruiter.
Semper Fi!!
Remember Tomorrow is Veteran's Day!!
